Alleviating the poor

In 2008, after the destructive Sichuan Wenchuan earthquake, BYD’s initial step was to donate RMB100 million and immediately dismount 1000 hoisting jacks from new cars—which were quickly delivered by air through the army—to be used to save as many lives as possible at the rescue sites. Later, President Wang Chuanfu led the top team of the company to personally donate RMB3 million to help rebuild schools destroyed in the disaster. The company also organized donation activities many times among its staff and arranged to comfort staff affected by the disaster, helping them overcoming difficulties and reconstructing homes. In 2010, after the destructive Qinghai Yushu earthquake, BYD immediately donated RMB20 million to disaster areas, quickly purchased 1000 sets of bedquilts and 1000 cotton clothes in Xi’an, and send them through relevant departments to disaster areas for earthquake relief in the very night. A sense of love and charity is an essential part of a great enterprise spirit and noble human character. BYD has taken on social responsibility as an important part of its enterprise spirit, insisting on contributing back to the society, improving social welfare, advocating an enterprise with a sense of love, and trying its best to contribute to the society’s rapid development.
